Caversham Centre continues a more than 20 year long tradition of excellence, innovation and commitment to those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to transformation and empowerment through creativity and the Arts. Caversham-based residencies and community-based programmes address the need for investment in the individual and community, and play a sustainable and important role in contributing towards the growth of the Arts both in South Africa and beyond. This is achieved through providing a unique combination of focused time for reflection, dialogue and creative and productive interaction, with resources and expertise provided by the renowned Caversham Press facility.

Caversham Centre for Artists and Writers hosts Residencies for local and international artists, writers and educators and undertakes local community collaboration projects. Situated at Caversham in the breathtaking Midlands of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, Caversham operates from unique buildings providing comfortable accommodation in spacious, peaceful surroundings. Its professional printmaking studio and facilities of international standards are housed within an 1878 Wesleyan Methodist Chapel building. Programmes are offered under the mentorship of experienced collaborative printmaker and CEO Malcolm Christian, programmes manager and community coordinator Witty Nyide, full-time administrator Jabu Mtheku and Jill Sachs as the early childhood specialist.
