Caversham-based Residential Fellowships
All residencies incorporate Caversham's
Hourglass Process©
Caversham programmes are designed to transfer skills, inspire individuals
to become agents of inspiration and change, and result in tangible products
as evidence of the journey undertaken.
Categories of Residential Fellowships
- Creative Cultural Dialogues - these
are three week theme-based residencies for four participants.
They provide artists, and writers with focused time and
facilitated creative interaction to share cultural diversity, personal
stories, insights and images. These are used as source for
inspiration and result in print-based art works for exhibition. Since
2000 in partnership with Fulton County Arts Council (GA) there have
been four International Exhibitions accompanied by catalogues:
- 2000
A Women's Vision
- 2002 Baggage
- 2004 Routes
- 2007 Personal Vocabulary
- Masabelaneni , which means 'Let
us share' in isiZulu - aims
to make real Caversham's Vision of Inspiring
the individual and growing their potential
to inspire others. This is done through
a two part residency process.
- Legacy Leadership ,
a two week residency for four
participants that combines personal awareness,
creativity, innovation and leadership skills as the basis for
a personal vision
- Vision-sharing ,
a one week residency which provides a co facilitated
platform for two Legacy Leadership Fellows to share and grow two
community members that they have each identified to support their
vision. This builds sustainability, adds richness and depth. The
result of nurturing legacy and transformational leadership through
creativity and inspiration is the development of the Caversham
CreACTive™ Centre Network
- Specialist , are
one week skills-based workshops for 8-10 participants
that are
facilitated by those with depth of skills and
experience in print and allied areas. These actively
encourage mentoring
of emerging talent.
- Creative Inspiration provide extended
weekend laboratory residencies that bring together individuals
from diverse backgrounds to explore the relationship between creativity
and the challenges of education, leadership and legacy.
- Internships vary from 6 week to
six months and aim to provide a mentored, experience-based learning
environment. These encourage interns to become involved with
all Caversham programmes and to share their own areas of skill and
passion.
In the words of Caversham Centre's Chairman,
John Samuel
"I see at the heart of Caversham the notion of place
- where certain possibilities are explored. Central to this exploration
is creativity, whether it is the act of an established artist or
of a school child. We do this so that the full potential of the
individual is realized through the act of doing something " |
